General Principles

HCVI follows and recommends the use of TACTICAL COMBAT CASUALTY CARE (TCCC / TC3 / "T Triple C") principles and protocols for the resuscitation and stabilization of patients who have sustained battlefield trauma. TCCC shares much in common with other approaches to trauma management, such as ATLS, but may differ in nomenclature and prioritization of interventions. HCVI believes TCCC to be the best approach for battlefield-related trauma.

TCCC training and execution are performed in three phases:

  1. Care under fire (CUF)

  2. Tactical field care (TFC)

  3. Tactical evacuation care (TEC)
